After a summer long effort to raise funds for local charities and scholarships, the Bristol Area Lions raffle came to a close last week with a drawing for several raffle items, chief among them a shed that has been showcased in several local venues over the summer.

The drawing was held in the Damariscotta parking lot on Oct. 12, and Kevin Reed of Wiscasset was announced as the winner of the shed.

The second prize of a dozen lobsters, donated by Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf in New Harbor, went to Holly  Heidenreich of New Harbor and Duxbury, Mass.

The third prize of a lighthouse wind bell, donated by North County Windbells in Round Pond, was awarded to Eileen Parent of New Harbor.

The high quality shed, valued at $8000, measures 8 by 16-feet and was designed, built and donated by Bristol Lion Christopher Leeman, a building contractor in Bristol.  Materials were generously donated by Poole Brothers Lumber.

The Bristol Area Lions Foundation would like to thank the donors, the many local retailers who displayed the shed and/or sold tickets and everyone who purchased tickets.

Proceeds from this year’s raffle will go to a variety of local needs, including the Annual Christmas Food Baskets, CHIP, Bristol Food Pantry, Miles Memorial Hospital, Elder Care, Bristol Area Scholarship Fund to name just a few.

The Bristol Area Lions meet on the first and third Mondays of the month at 6 p.m. at the Willing Workers Hall in New Harbor.
