Bristol Area Lions Club member Michael Hope presents donation to Jenny Pendleton of Weymouth House for Bristol Community Christmas.

The Bristol Area Lions Club is proud to be donating to a valuable holiday gift program on the Bristol Peninsula. Called Bristol Community Christmas, this local gift-giving project to help children from Bristol and South Bristol has been moved to the Weymouth House in Bristol, a centrally located facility currently developing programs to help families in the community. The Christmas project was started many years ago by local churches and has continued for 17 years under the leadership of the Bristol Fire Department Auxiliary.

Each child receives a warm outfit, socks, undergarments, a hat, gloves and toys. Gift bags are filled as well with items such as books, personal hygiene products, and a fleece blanket. Some families with older children receive gift cards so that they may shop locally for size and style preferences. Families will pick up their gifts on a scheduled basis on Dec.17th at Weymouth House. Last year 82 children from Bristol and South Bristol were served by the efforts of Bristol Community Christmas.

Donations to the project are most welcome and should be made to the Weymouth House, P.O. Box 274, Bristol, ME 04539.
