On Sat. Aug. 13, the Bristol Area Lions are hosting a silent auction from 8 am to 1 pm, at the Wawenock Country Clubhouse on State Route 129. Don’t miss the chance to snap up bargains on new items donated by local businesses; stop by anytime in the morning to place your bids.

Items being offered include a gift certificate to the Bradley Inn for a three-course dinner for two, shore dinners for two from the Pemaquid Fisherman’s Co-op, a $25 gift certificate to The Cupboard Café or Rising Tide Community Market, a peck of steamers from John’s River Shellfish, and oysters from Mook Sea Farm.

Not hungry? Then how about a Ron Fletcher framed print, a Jonathan Papelbon Red Sox shirt, a Josh Reddick autographed baseball, a die cast replica of a 1957 Chevy Cameo pickup or a gas pump bank from Louis Doe, a North County Pemaquid wind bell, or two rounds of golf at Boothbay Country Club.

If you prefer home improvement projects, then also up for bid are a gift certificate to Hancock lumber, 50 hemlock 2×4” studs and a pickup load of bark mulch from N.C. Hunt, a Hitachi Circular Saw from NEBM, and eight yards of loam from Hanley Construction and 12 yards of gravel from Joe Winchenbach.

There is definitely something for everyone at the Bristol Area Lions Silent Auction, proceeds of which will benefit local charities such as C.H.I.P., the Food Pantry and the Lions Christmas Food Basket distribution.
