On Labor Day, Bristol resident Lt. Rand Maker of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office drew the winning tickets in the 2011 charity raffle organized by the Bristol Area Lions Club. The first prize, a $200 gift certificate to L.L. Bean’s, was awarded to Cathy Wire of Chicago. Ron Gilzean of New Harbor won second prize of a dozen lobsters donated by Shaw’s Fish and Lobster Wharf, and Virginia Glazier of New Harbor received third prize of an Anchor Inn gift certificate.

Lt. Rand Maker of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office is assisted by Lion Al Rottner in drawing winners for the Bristol Area Lions Foundation 2011 raffle

The Bristol Area Lions Club would like to express their appreciation to those three businesses as well as to C.E. Reilly and Son of New Harbor for their generosity in allowing the Club to sell raffle tickets outside their store throughout the summer. Many thanks to all who purchased tickets, to Lions Al Rottner, Lee Rushmore and Al Sears for coordinating the raffle, and to Lion Walt Johansson and his neighbors for contributing over $700 in ticket sales. All proceeds from the Bristol Area Lions Foundation 2011 raffle help to support the New Harbor Food Pantry, CHIP, and other local charities.

The next meeting of the Bristol Area Lions Club takes place on Monday, September 19 at 6 PM at the Willing Workers Hall in New Harbor. To make dinner reservations for that meeting, please call 677-6191.
