First Net Winners in the recent Bristol Area Lions Club Golf Tournament fundraiser were [from left]: Eric Hunt, Greg Simmons, Curtis Waite and Carlos Arteaga.

The fourth annual Bristol Area Lions Club Golf Tournament on August 12 took place at Wawenock Golf Club despite a good dose of liquid sunshine.

The event was a great success even though nobody won the hole-in-one Jeep Patriot from Newcastle Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep on the par-three third hole. The golf tournament, sponsor donations and silent auction proceeds will greatly help local charities and the Bristol Area Lions scholarship fund.

Hole-in-One Prize

A delicious lunch of donated lobsters with corn on the cob, potato salad, coleslaw and rolls prepared by Reunion Station’s Fairway Restaurant was enjoyed by all.

Prizes and awards followed, along with the results of the silent auction.

Paul Richmond, Wawenock general manager, compiled and awarded prizes to all winners. Winners include Matt Bolster, for closest to the lobster trap; Greg Simmons, for closest to the pin on Hole 17; Greg Anderson, for longest drive on Hole 7; and Scott Banks, closest to the Reunion Station train.

First Gross winners at the event were Robert Clifford, Olivia Clifford, Anne Knott and Matt Poole. First Net winners were Greg Simmons, Eric Hunt, Carlos Arteaga and Curtis Waite.

Second Gross winners were the team of Tom Simmons, Keith Simmons, Andrew Simmons and Kevin Reed, while Second Net winners were Timothy Leeman, Greg Anderson, Matt Bolster and Cody Leeman.

The Bristol Area Lions Club would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of both the Wawenock Golf Club and the Fairway Restaurant for their assistance in this successful fundraising event. Also, special thanks are due to the generous sponsors and local business donors who made this event possible.
