Happy Holidays to All! 12/25/2012

Posted by DS in activities.

Last week the Bristol Area Lions had their annual Christmas party. Before dinner everyone turned to the flag and recited the pledge of allegiance, followed by a moment of silent prayer in memory of the 26 victims of the Newtown tragedy, the Lions prayer and the Lions toast.

All who helped were thanked for their part in decorating the tree and the tables, wreaths on the doors, centerpieces, poinsettias for the tables and everyone that brought hors d’oeuvres.

The special holiday dinner was prepared by their caterer David Atwater. The entrée choices were filet mignon with a Mornay sauce or a baked seafood medley. Each was served with mashed potato, green beans, tossed salad and rolls. This was followed by a delicious Buche de Noel, a delectable chocolate torte, and coffee.

Dinner was followed by the group singing of Christmas carols, the “Kazoo Khorus”, lead by Lion Herb Watson with kazoos distributed to all in attendance, and concluded with the moving reading of the classic Clement Moore poem.

At the next meeting of the Bristol Area Lions will be on Jan. 7, the speaker will be Lion Paul Anderson speaking on the new mining technology for extracting natural gas known as hydraulic fracturing or “Fracking”.

To make dinner reservations for that meeting please call 677-6191, and to learn more about the Bristol Area Lions Club, contact John Janell at 563-76402
