The Bristol Area Lions would like to congratulate four outstanding seniors from Lincoln Academy’s Class of 2014 who were each recently awarded $2000 scholarships by the Bristol Area Lions Foundation and their 2013 Golf Tournament.

Seward Matel of Round Pond was the 50th recipient of a scholarship from the Ed and Gladys Lewis Scholarship which the Lions established in 1985.He plans on a double major in Business Administration and Political Science at Washington & Lee University.

Austin Sablinsky of Bristol was the recipient of The Pat Harrison Award. He will study physics at The University of Vermont.

Ashley Pooler of Bristol received The Ralph and Peggy Hunt Award given by the Hunts with the intent of helping students entering the medical field with special emphasis on nursing. Ashley will study nursing at The University of Maine, Fort Kent.

Jared McLain of New Harbor received a vocational scholarship funded in part by the Bristol Area Lions 2013 Golf Tournament and Silent Auction. Jared will study Precision Marine Technology at Central Maine Community College.

The Bristol Area Lions have presented a total of 53 scholarships to graduating seniors at Lincoln Academy over the past 29 years. For more information on the non-profit Bristol Area Lions Foundation, serving Bristol and South Bristol, you may contact Scholarship Chairman Michael Hope at 677-2193.
