Bristol Area Lions Club Golf Tournament and Silent Auction 08/08/2014

On Saturday, Aug. 16, the Bristol Area Lions will host a silent auction, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Wawenock Golf Clubhouse, Route 129 in Walpole in conjunction with their sixth Annual Golf Tournament. The public is invited to participate in either or both events.

Registration for the golf tournament is at 8:30 a.m. and tee-off will be at 9 a.m. The cost is only $45 for nine holes, including prizes and a lobster lunch. A 2014 Jeep Patriot is the prize for a hole-in-one on third hole. For more information call the Wawenock Golf Club at 563-3938 or John Janell at 563-7402 or e-mail janell@tidewater.net.

Don’t miss the chance to snap up bargains on new items donated by local businesses; stop by anytime in the morning to place your bid. One does not have to be present to win.

Bristol Lions Silent Auction 2014 items

Items offered include gift certificates for dinner for two at the Bradley Inn, two shore dinners at the Pemaquid Fisherman’s Co-op; gift cards for the Cupboard Café, Round Pond Lobster, the Seagull Shop, the Rising Tide Community Market with a basket of Maine goods; and three dozen oysters from John’s River Oyster.

Not hungry? Then how about a woven folk art American flag from hand cut blue jeans by the Village Weaver on a forged wall hanger by the Scottish Lion; a North Country wind bell or a Shaker step stool with handle to reach that top shelf from the Carpenter’s Boat Shop.

For those preferring home improvement projects, up for bid are two lots of 50 2- by 6-inch studs and two pickup loads of bark mulch from N.C. Hunt; 12 yards of loam from O.W. Holmes; eight yards of gravel from Hanley Construction, and two gift cards from Hammond Lumber. Also, available are a nearly new kitchen trash compactor and a new biscuit colored Broan range hood from Crooker Plumbing, Heating and Electrical.

All proceeds benefit the Bristol Area Scholarship Fund and local charities such as, C.H.I.P. Inc., Round Pond Green and the Lions Annual Christmas Food Basket distribution. For more information on auction items please call Michael Hope 677-2193
