The sixth annual Bristol Area Lions Foundation Golf Tournament and silent auction were held Aug. 16 at Wawenock Golf Club on a beautiful sunny morning. No one won the hole-in-one 2014 Jeep Patriot from Newcastle Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram on the par-three third hole: nor hole-in-one on the eighth hole for a 2015 Wawenock Golf Club membership.

The golf tournament, sponsor donations and silent auction proceeds will go to help local charities and the Bristol Area Lions Foundation scholarship fund.

A delicious lunch of donated lobsters from Shaw’s Lobster Wharf and the New Harbor Co-op with corn on the cob, potato salad, cole slaw and rolls prepared by Sharlene Feltus of the Fairway Restaurant was enjoyed.

Wawenock’s Paul Richmond compiled the team scores and awarded prizes to all the winners. Winners include Ryan Carter for closest to the lobster trap and for closest to the pin on Hole 8; Tom Kostenbader for longest drive on Hole 7; and Ken Seiders for closest to the train on Hole 6.

First Gross winners at the event were Jon Poland, C.J. Pendleton, Adam Gamage and Ken Seiders. Second Gross winners were Ryan Carter, Larry Carter, Ron Harris and Tom Kostenbader.

The Bristol Area Lions Club extends their gratitude to Paul Richmond, Wawenock general manager and his staff, Sharlene Feltus of the Fairway Restaurant and Randy Miller of Newcastle Jeep for their assistance in the club’s largest fund raising event. Also, special thanks are due to the generous sponsors and local silent auction donors who made this event a success.
