The 12th annual community Elmer Tarr roadside clean up day was co-sponsored by the Bristol Area Lions and Masonic Lodge #74. Elmer Tarr was both a Lion and a Mason, who, during his daily walks would keep the Route 130 roadside clean from New Harbor to Pemaquid Point.

This year had a turnout of 47 participants representing six organizations.
There were 20 from the Bristol Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, 14 from the Bristol Lions Little League team, four from the Pemaquid Watershed Association, six Lions and three Masons.

Participating from the Pemaquid Watershed Association were Chris Gilbert, Lynne Gilbert, Joanna Holland and Linda Shaffer, who also assisted with the lunch.
Masonic Lodge #74 cleaning and picking up trash bags were Master David Tonry, Masons Don Carrigan and Terry Lowd.

Bristol Area Lions members participating were route coordinator, King Lion Brendan Donegan, Lions Stan Galvin, Michael Hope, John Janell, Walt Johansson and Herb Watson.

A hot dog lunch with chips and sodas was provided by the Bristol Areal Lions at the Willing Workers Hall at noon.

The next meeting of the Bristol Area Lions will be May 4 a business meeting to plan this year’s fundraisers and nominate officers and directors for the new fiscal year beginning July 1.The dinner will be spaghetti and meatballs with a salad and bread. To make reservations for that meeting call Herb Watson at 677-6191.
