The eighth annual Bristol Area Lions Foundation Golf Tournament was held Sept. 3 at Wawenock Golf Club on a beautiful sunny day.

No one won the 2016 Jeep Cherokee from Newcastle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, the prize for a hole-in-one on the par-three third hole; nor a 2017 Wawenock Golf Club membership for a hole-in-one on the eighth hole. Gift certificates for a round of golf at the Sheepscot Links were presented to the Dewey Chase foursome as three of the team hit their balls onto the third hole green.

Wawenock General Manager Paul Richmond compiled the team scores and awarded prizes to all the winners. Winners include Jason Dighton for closest to the lobster trap and for closest to the pin on hole 8. Tim Mateosian for longest drive on hole 7, and Dewey Chase for closest to the train on hole 6.

First low gross winners at the event were Dewey Chase, Tim Matiosian, Dave Maxwell, and Sam Tatiosian. First net gross winners were Patrick Moran, Brue Canterbury, Jason Dighton, and Kristen Stevens.

Second low gross winners were John Sproul, Ashlee Lowery, Ken Seiders, and Richard Hallinan. Second net gross winners were Timothy Leeman, Matthew Leeman and Chad Cowan.

The Bristol Area Lions Club extends their gratitude to Paul Richmond of Wawenock, Sharlene Feltus of the Fairway Restaurant and Randy Miller of Newcastle Jeep for their assistance in the club’s largest fund raising event. Also, special thanks are due to the generous sponsors, lobster and prize donors who made this event a success.

The proceeds will benefit local charities and the Bristol Area Lions Foundation scholarship fund.
