Lincoln County Sheriff’s Sergeant Mark A. Bridgham draws the winning Bristol Area Lions raffle tickets at the Willing Workers Hall in New Harbor on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4. Star ticket salesman Lion Walt Johansson closely watches.

The Bristol Area Lions Club held its Labor Day raffle drawing, concluding its summer-long fundraising effort selling raffle tickets in front of C.E. Reilly & Son Market on Saturdays. Sergeant Bridgham of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, picked the winning tickets.

The first prize, a $250 L.L. Bean gift card, was awarded to Bob Ireland on Pemaquid Harbor Road. The second prize, a dozen lobsters courtesy of Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf, went to Jane Collins of Duxbury, Massachusetts. Nancy Ireland, further down on Pemaquid Harbor Road, won the third prize, a $50 gift card for The Anchor Restaurant.

The Bristol Area Lions Club acknowledged 84-year old Lion Walt Johansson, who sold over $1,000 worth of tickets by walking up and down the driveways and roads off Pemaquid Harbor Road. He sold two of the winning tickets this year.

Raffle ticket chairman King Lion Brendan Donegan scheduled volunteers, set up and removed the sales table each Saturday.

The Bristol Area Lions Club will hold its first dinner meeting of the new season at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at the Willing Workers Hall. To make dinner reservations for that meeting, call John Janell at 563-7402. To learn more about the Bristol Area Lions Club, serving Bristol and South Bristol, contact Walt Johansson at 677-2584.
